About the Position:
This position will focus on, but not be limited to, efficiently drafting and reviewing a variety of critical transactional real estate, entity related and property management documents, along with managing certain due diligence review accountabilities and tracking important project deadlines. The position requires, at minimum, understanding of basic legal contracts, corporate governance requirements and real estate documents.
The Paralegal must be an extremely organized self-starter with flexible identity that facilitates effective interface with Company’s multiple departments.
In this role, you will:
  • Draft and prepare affidavits, legal correspondence and other documents for review by General Counsel.
  • Assist with preparing and organizing checklists, including arranging closing transactional documentation from letter of intent through completion of closing binders.
  • Assist with and prepare certain property and operational contracts for review by General Counsel, including lease agreements and amendments, vendor/consultant agreements, contractor agreements, NDA’s, partnership agreements, operating agreements, closing documents, and corporate documents.
  • Timely file and maintain corporate documents with various secretaries of state (e.g., statements of information, annual registrations, agents for service of process, etc.).
  • Obtain, prepare and/or file various documents, certificates, statements, amendments, resolutions and forms.
  • Create and register new entities including filing for EIN and SAM numbers.
  • Maintain updated SAM registrations for all CCI entities as applicable.
  • Assist Acquisitions Team in preparing packages for submission to HUD.
  • Summarize material terms of contracts (including declarations, covenants, leases, and other property-related documents).
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper entity records.
  • Create amendments to entity organizational documents for review by General Counsel.
  • Organize, edit, and maintain confidential files and records in a paper or electronic filing system.
  • Maintain records in a timely, accurate and organized manner.
  • Obtain documents from various governmental agencies.
  • Participate in and attend closings, obtain state and other public records documentation including lien searches, as needed.
  • Support all aspects and stages of real estate/property management transactions as assigned by General Counsel.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Property Management team to address Property and tenant issues arising under leases.
  • Respond timely and appropriately to General Counsel, Acquisitions Team and other departments.
  • Attend to and perform work with regularity and punctuality and recognize that confidentiality, efficiency, accuracy, attention to detail and exercising excellent professional and business judgment are essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Identify and, with approval of the General Counsel, implement process improvement opportunities. with municipal and community agencies.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years of paralegal experience required
  • 3 years of experience within a Corporate or Real Estate Law firm preferred
  • 3 years of experience in an in-house role preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Relevant Area of Study (i.e. Business, Law) preferred
  • Prior experience in property management helpful
